2025 Annual Report

2025 Annual Report

March 12, 2026 | The Carnegie Museum of Montgomery County had another wonderfully busy year in 2025. We welcomed 6,604 visitors, and we hosted many exciting programs, exhibits, and events.

Our spring and summer history exhibit, Montgomery County Then & Now: Downtown Crawfordsville, was a rousing success. Visitors could explore the exhibit in three different ways – in the museum building (numerous large posters on the walls exploring the history and architecture of 20 different buildings in downtown Crawfordsville), by using our Walking Tour brochure to explore those same locations in person, and by visiting the StoryMaps version of the exhibit online. Over 3,500 people visited the museum in person during the exhibit’s run, with an additional 1,000 visitors viewing the StoryMaps digital version in 2025. We greatly appreciate the financial support given by the Montgomery County Community Foundation, Crawfordsville Main Street, and the Montgomery County Visitors and Convention Bureau, which made this “three-in-one” exhibit possible.

In the fall, we unveiled two additional local history exhibits, Hoosiers: Hometown Hickory, celebrating the 40th anniversary of the legendary basketball movie Hoosiers and its filming in New Richmond, and Burnin’ Rubber, exploring automobile racing as well as three featured drivers from Montgomery County. Both exhibits proved very popular and were a great way to honor Indiana’s two most iconic sports.

Also on display in 2025 was Civil Rights Leaders, featuring the research of Wabash College students, as well as two community art shows:  Sound & Silence and Crawfordsville Schools Art Extravaganza.

On the educational programming side, Pi Day, Brain Day, and School Break Science all drew nice crowds to the museum, offering families hands-on learning and demonstrations. We also kept kids busy with our annual Summer at the Museum, Midweek Masterpieces, SMASH Saturdays, and Photos with Santa, as well as launching our new Craft of the Month offerings.

In addition to all of this, the Carnegie Museum welcomed numerous school field trips, child and adult services groups, homeschool groups, Scout troops, local organizations, and author book signings, as well as visitors from all over the United States. It was a great year for us, and we can’t wait to bring you even more history, science, and art in 2026. Thank you for your continued support of the Carnegie Museum of Montgomery County!
