The Collection
Our collection boasts 7,000+ artifacts related to Montgomery County. Strengths of the collection include Montgomery County schools, the Tribe of Ben-Hur, and local businesses. The collection is open for viewing and research by appointment.
As a department of the Crawfordsville District Public Library, the Museum works closely with the Local History department to preserve and present the history of the County.
Looking for Local History Information and Genealogy? Find these resources at the Crawfordsville District Public Library. Business and governmental records as well as genealogy information, newspapers, and photographs may be accessed through the Local History department. The department also includes extensive online resources in addition to its physical archives.
Have an object to donate?
The Carnegie Museum regularly considers new donations of artifacts that help us tell stories of local people, places, and events. Our collection contains a wide variety of items connected to Montgomery County, Indiana.
- If you’re interested in donating an artifact, Call or Email to make an appointment.
- A staff member will assess whether your object is a good fit for our collection. Know that we are unable to accept all items that are offered to us.
- In some cases, the CDPL Local History collection may be a better fit. In these instances, we will assist in routing your donation to the Crawfordsville District Public Library.
- The process of filling out a Deed of Gift takes only a few minutes. We love to document any stories or pictures connected to your donation.
