The Revolution in Plain Sight: Conversations on Indiana and the 250th

Thursday, August 28, 2025 | Did you know 2026 is the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence? Join the Museum’s first program celebrating the American experiment of democracy in honor of the United Sates Semiquincentennial. On Thursday, August 28, 2025 at 7 PM, The Revolution in Plain Sight: Conversations of Indiana and the 250th lecture features Ryan L. Cole and Jill Weiss Simins, two historians, who will connect the ideals of the Revolution with our local history.

Ryan L. Cole is the author of The Last Adieu: Lafayette’s Triumphant Return, the Echoes of Revolution, and the Gratitude of the Republic, and Light-Horse Harry Lee: Rise and Fall of a Revolutionary Hero. He has written on American history for publications such as the Wall Street Journal and has worked for Governor Mitch Daniels and Senator Todd Young.

Jill Weiss Simins is a historian at the Indiana Archives and Records Administration focused on collections accessibility and the history of Indiana. She has been the recipient of the Dorothy Riker Hoosier Historian Award from the Indiana Historical Society, the Beck-Levy Fellowship from the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library, and a Smithsonian Fellowship through Re-Imagining Migration.
